About Us
About Us
Electric Firefly Design & Creation is the brainchild of Sydney designer Simon Goldstein, originating from a collaborative partnership in Mexico in 2002. The short-lived Dragonlite project brought together influences from the various disciplines of art, design and geometry to create what was the basis for Electric Firefly.
Seen in all the right places, EFD&C has been sold by Top3 by Design (Syd), The Sydney Opera House Store, Anibou (Melb), One Small Room (Adel), Forme Australia (Melb) and Design Emporium (NZ). We have also graced the pages of Inside Out magazine (2004), The Weekend Australian (2004), Map Magazine (2006) and Home Beautiful (2007), as well as being used to promote Furnitex 2007 and The Australian International Furniture Fair 2008.
To top it off, the original Firefly Series was shortlisted for an Australian Design Award in 2004.
The original Firefly Series broke away from the styles typically on offer in designware with a fresh and simple theme. Now in its 3rd year, Electric Firefly has teamed up with Melbourne-based Friendly Savage and is producing its first range of lamps using recycled materials.
About Us
The Environment
We use an Australian made polymer sheet that is 30-50% recycled product. It is biologically inert (non-reactive) and completely non-toxic, with no plasticisers, chlorine, leachable components or heavy metals used in the finished product or during manufacture.
The factories that produce our lamps are active recyclers, collecting their own waste as well as that of their customers for recycling. Electric Firefly is proud to support companies with stringent environmental policies and practices and is investigating the potential for other recycled and biodegradable plastics currently under development.
